eGR Awards 2020 Forward Look: News | Bingoworld.co.uk

Almost every industry across the globe has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading major events and ceremonies such as The Oscars, the Emmys and the Cannes Film Festival to either be postponed or take place online. Even gambling operators, many of whom have a strong online presence, are having to adjust to the ‘new normal’.

This year, one of the biggest highlights in the gambling industry’s calendar is due to be held in a virtual format due to the ongoing pandemic.

The eGR Operator Awards will reveal its winners via a series of online ceremonies that will be held on 11th and 12th November 2020. There will also be live online content that will discuss some of the biggest challenges and topics that are facing the gambling industry today.

The ceremony aims to acknowledge B2C operators across all verticals (e.g. sports betting, casino, and bingo) who have really raised the bar across the past 12 months in categories such as safer gambling, customer service, and innovation.

Last year’s ceremony saw 347 entries entered across 31 categories, with 29 independent judges having to determine which of the 125 nominated companies was worthiest of an award.

2019 was an excellent year for the online bingo industry, with many of the UK’s most popular online bingo brands receiving accolades.

For example, the new wager-free bingo site, MrQ (owned by Lindar Media), took home the title of Rising Star, while Tombola carried off two awards – one for Socially Responsible Operator and the other for Bingo Operator.

The shortlist for 2020 includes 888Ladies, Buzz Bingo, Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Gamesys Group, MrQ, Rank Digital, Paddy Power, and Tombola, who are all vying for the Bingo Operator award.

Foxy Bingo’s sister site, Foxy Games, is hoping to win the Rising Star award, Tombola has its sights set on Safer Gambling Operator of the Year and WhichBingo.co.uk is hoping to scoop Best Bingo Affiliate.
