2020 hasn’t been a great year for the television industry with many shows facing setbacks in filming, but the COVID-19 pandemic is not holding down I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. The long-running show is just about to start its 20th series and the first 10 contestants have officially been announced.
Who are the Celebrity Contestants Heading to Wales?
10 celebrities have been announced for the new season of I’m a Celebrity, which is being sponsored by Tombola Arcade, but it is rumoured there are 2 more who will be joining everyone later, so watch out for that!
Arguably, the biggest name set to enter the jungle is Sir Mo Farrah, an Olympic running legend and national treasure. Of course, it is rumoured he is being paid a very handsome fee of around £300,000, the highest of all the famous faces this year. Another sporting champion joining the cast is Hollie Arnold who is a Paralympian gold medallist and holds an MBE.
Lots of BBC stars are making an appearance this year on the ITV show including presenter Victoria Derbyshire and dancer AJ Pritchard. There have been concerns this week that the latter has tested positive for COVID-19 and so may not make the launch show! Another Strictly Come Dancing connection this year is Tess Daley’s husband, Vernon Kay, who is a television and radio presenter and has been confirmed in the line up.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a reality tv show without some famous soap stars rounding out the castle-mates and there are 3 altogether this year. From Coronation Street we have Beverly Callard who famously played Liz McDonald. Rival EastEnders is also making a big splash as the very popular actor Shane Ritchie, who has long played Alfie Moon on the soap, will be entering the castle, plus former EastEnders star Jessica Plummer.
Finally, the last celebrity to be announced is Giovanna Fletcher, an author with her own podcast, and is married to McFly’s Tom Fletcher.
The show is set to start at 9pm on Sunday 15th November, so make sure you tune in to see these celebs entering the Welsh castle.
