Many online bingo players say that they appreciate the brands that they spend time and money with rewarding them for their loyalty.
Up until recently, one of the most generous loyalty schemes could be found at Mecca Bingo.
However, we’ve just learnt that as of Saturday, 1st August 2020, the brand will be ditching its popular and exclusive Play Points system.
Previously, every time that players bought bingo cards, they earned Play Points. The scheme featured five Play Points levels, with the higher levels offering the most points and incentives.
For example, at Pink level, Mecca Bingo members received 15 bonus points for every £1 spent, double points on a nominated day of the month, the chance to win a mystery prize via a monthly prize draw and an annual birthday bonus.
At the top level (Blue), members gained 18 bonus points for every £1 spent, the opportunity to claim triple points on one day per month, entry to the Free Bingo room, entry into the monthly mystery prize draw, plus the yearly birthday present.
For anyone who’s unhappy that the Play Points system is being terminated with very little warning, sadly, the terms and conditions of the scheme state that “The Play Points scheme may be amended or terminated without prior notice or consultation”.
However, we’ve been informed that existing players who have already accrued Play Points will be contacted directly regarding the change.
No-one yet knows why the Play Points system is being removed. It could be due to the UK Gambling Commission cracking down on operators who are being seen as incentivising players as, in some cases, this can cause gambling harm. Alternatively, Mecca Bingo might be working on a brand-new type of rewards scheme.
Only one thing’s for certain and it’s that BingoWorld will bring you news of any further clarification as soon as we hear it!
