A grandmother from Glasgow has had all of her dreams come true this month after she won more than £20,000 playing bingo.
Elizabeth Wilkie is a regular player at Possilpark’s Buzz Bingo club, but she’s never been lucky enough to net a pay-out this large!
Number 55 – otherwise known in the bingo world as “All the Fives” – proved to be particularly provident for the Glaswegian granny after it helped her score a full house. The prize was worth an impressive £20,122.21 and was awarded via the club’s Double Number Jackpot game.
The linked game plays simultaneously at all of Buzz Bingo’s clubs across the UK, and the Possilpark venue’s General Manager, Martyn Bell, says that him and his team “couldn’t be happier for Liz and her fantastic win”.
Thanks to her recent windfall, Mrs Wilkie has been able to book a family holiday in the sun, and she also plans to split the leftovers between her children, grandchildren, and sister.
To win the Double Number Jackpot, the last number called for the full house must be a double number which, in the case of Elizabeth Wilkie, was 55 but could also be 22, 33, 44, etc. If no-one calls a full house, the jackpot continues to roll over until it’s won. Each time that the Double Number Jackpot is claimed, it resets to £1,000.
Players can also win prizes by calling a full house on a non-double number. In the afternoon, there’s £2,500 up for grabs and in the evening, the prize amount doubles to £5,000.
Players can only participate in the game in Buzz Bingo clubs, and it currently costs £1 for two tickets or £2 for five tickets.
Last year, Buzz Bingo paid out £193m to its club members. However, it also creates plenty of online bingo winners too through jackpot games like Fluffy Favourites Bingo.
