Bingo lovers in Yorkshire are to be treated to a night of 90’s nostalgia as the ‘supergroup’, Boyz on Block’, take to the stage this March.
Forming a band that even pop music mogul, Simon Cowell, would be proud of, Shane Lynch, Dane Bowers, Ben Ofoedu, and Abz Love will come together to serenade players at the Fishergate Mecca Bingo club in York on Saturday 7th March 2020.
The group is made up of four ex-90’s heartthrobs, namely Boyzone’s Shane Lynch, Another Level’s Dane Bowers, Ben Ofoedu from Phats & Small, and Abz Love from 5ive.
Their upcoming performance at the Yorkshire-based Mecca Bingo club will see the band sing some of their best-known hits from their early days, including Freak Me, Turn Around, No Matter What, and Keep On Movin’.
The quartet is looking forward to the big night as much as the local bingo players, quoting Mecca Bingo as “such a fun entertainment brand” which offers “perfect venues for our exclusive first gigs.”
The bingo club’s general manager, Mike Donnison, is equally excited about the forthcoming event. He expects the band to “get everyone in the party spirit” and is proud that his club is “one of the first venues in the country” to have Boyz on Block “come and play an incredible set”.
Boyz on Block was formed in the summer of 2019, and the lads will be undertaking a UK tour that begins in February 2020 and will take in ten Mecca Bingo clubs (including Bolton, York, Birkenhead, Dundee, Glasgow, Wakefield, Stockton-on-Tees, Hull, and Croydon).
The gigs form part of Mecca Bingo’s 90’s “Rewind” nights, and they will feature an evening of bingo, dancing, and singing. The “boyz” will also be joined by a support act which will be named nearer the time of the events
