In mid-May 2020, the UK Gambling Commission issued UK gambling operators with new advice, asking them to remove the option for customers to reverse withdrawal requests.
The instructions, which may only be temporary, are being introduced to help further protect players from gambling harm during the COVID-19 crisis, when many more people than usual are spending time at home and also going online for entertainment purposes.
Although all major gambling operators are expected to introduce the new regulatory requirement as quickly as possible, Dragonfish is one of the first online bingo networks to implement the changes.
As of Monday, 25th May 2020, Dragonfish bingo sites, such as Kozmo Bingo and Hunky Bingo, have been contacting their customers to advise them that they will no longer be able to reverse any withdrawal requests via the cashier.
One example email that was recently sent to Dragonfish players describes the changes to the banking system as being part of a “regulatory requirement to be applied across the gaming industry.
It also explains that once a customer has requested a withdrawal, “it will be processed in accordance with the Withdrawal Policy and cannot be reversed”.
The UK Gambling Commission, as well as online bingo operators such as Dragonfish and 888 Holdings, encourages players to gamble responsibly.
Brands such as Kozmo and Hunky Bingo have dedicated Responsible Gaming pages where customers can find out more about staying in control while playing games online.
For instance, there are tips for parents about how to prevent minors from accessing gambling-related programs and websites, advice on installing anti-gambling tools such as Net Nanny and GamBlock, a list of charities and voluntary organisations like GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous that can help people who have a gambling problem, and information on setting deposit limits, restricting account access, and game time reminders.
