Quick The Sun Play Summary
The Sun is the UK’s most popular, and most controversial, daily newspaper. It used to have its own online casino, but now it has one hosted by online and mobile casino experts Nektan.

Gamifications & VIP Program
The Sun Play is now part of the Nektan casino network and as such, has the same bonuses, promotions and terms as every other site on the same network. However, Nektan ‘allows’ each online casino on the network to come up with their own VIP scheme, if they so wish.
The Sun Play casino does have one, but it’s a little secretive about it. It’s by invitation only and offers VIP-style bonuses and other goodies.
Software & Games
- Number of software providers: 28.
- Number of slot games: 524.
- Types of games: Video slots, table games, instant win games.
- Games: 5-reel slots, roulette, casino poker, pontoon.
The sun is a hot place, and The Sun Play is a hot place for casino games … as long as they are slots. There are 527 games here, and 519 of them are slots. Aside from the slots we found a version apiece of roulette, blackjack (or at least pontoon, which is a version of blackjack) and casino poker. A bit of a disappointment, to be honest.
You would think with almost 30 software providers this site would be able to provide a few more casino games, but you’re stuck with all these slots and five scratch cards.
There are no live casino options here also.
Depositing & Cashing Out
This site offers enough depositing options, to be fair. You can use your debit card, Neteller, Skrill, Boku (mobile phone billing), Paysafecard, Zimpler, Trustly, GiroPay or Sofort. Not all methods will be available to The Sun Play UK customers. Deposits must be for at least £10.
Cashing out is available to any method they you’ve previously used to make a deposit from. The minimum accepted deposit is £20 and the maximum per withdrawal is £2,000. Withdrawals can be held pending for up to 72 hours, then they take less than one day (eWallets) or three to five days (cards).
These terms are not the best.
The Sun Play Social
You would think that as this site comes from a massive media conglomerate that they would actively encourage the social aspect of their site. However, if you are a social casino player there is very little that you can do here in terms of sociability.
With no bingo there are no chat rooms, and no chat rooms means no chance to chat! In such circumstances we usually recommend a move to the site’s live casino games, but as there are none at The Sun Play, we can’t!
The Sun Play does have a Facebook page (that hasn’t been touched since 2015) and there’s nothing from the site on Twitter.
The Sun Play Mobile
Nektan casinos have always been very good on mobile devices and that’s certainly the case with The Sun Play. Nektan have always put mobile games first, and this is definitely what we find at this casino, as virtually every game on desktop can be played on mobile too.
No need to hunt around for The Sun Play app, as you won’t find it. Instead The Sun Play mobile site automatically loads when you navigate your way to the site using a browser on your device.
You should be good-to-go as long as you are using an iOS or Android-powered device, and you have a stable internet connection.
Our Final Thoughts on The Sun Play
There’s nothing really wrong with Nektan-powered sites. They work well and most have sufficient options. There are a lot of them now though, and they all look pretty ‘samey’. The Sun Play is definitely guilty of lazily taking the Nektan template, adding their branding and doing not a lot else. Our verdict is ‘not bad but could be much better’.
